After a breakout second season in the NFL, Falcons defensive tackle Brandon Dorlus is hoping for something truly special in Year 3.
“They’ve seen what I can do. Now I have to do it two times better than last year,” Dorlus said today as Atlanta’s veterans checked in for training camp. “My goal this year is to get more sacks, win a lot of games, get to that Super Bowl game and be a Pro Bowler.”
Dorlus had 8.5 sacks in 15 games last year and returns this year as the focal point of a defensive line that lost his draft mate and close friend Ruke Orhorhoro (traded to Jacksonville) but added the bulky duo of Da’Shawn Hand and Maason Smith to help stop the run and free up Dorlus to rush the passer.
“Coach Nate Ollie makes it really simple for me. He says, ‘You’re out there to get sacks,’” Dorlus said. “My job is to get the quarterback on the ground.”
